New Braunfels Regional Rehabilitation Hospital ranked in the top 10 percent of inpatient rehabilitation facilities in the United States for 10 years.
The ranking is by the Uniform Data System for Medical Rehabilitation (UDSMR), a not-for-profit corporation that was developed with support from the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation research, a component of the U.S. Department of Education.
The UDSMR ranks rehabilitation facilities based upon care that is:
- Patient-Centered
- Effective
- Efficient
- Timely
This means that through services at New Braunfels Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, our patients are receiving the highest level of rehabilitative care available – without having to leave the area.
UDSMR, which administers the world’s largest medical rehabilitation database, provides common language and measurement tools to monitor patient results.
Through UDSMR, our hospital collaborates with peers throughout the United States to share information and establish best practices for patients. This helps us elevate rehabilitative care for everyone across the United States.

Advanced Stroke Certification
New Braunfels Regional Rehabilitation Hospital has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for stroke rehabilitation, which signifies the hospital’s dedication to developing a higher level of care and improved results for stroke patients. The certification is given after a rigorous on-site review by an expert evaluator from the Joint Commission.
The Gold Seal of Approval for Stroke Rehabilitation recognizes our commitment to creating a culture of excellence for our patients. Through our specialized stroke services and programs, we want to provide hope and quality of life to our community members who have experienced this debilitating event.
Brain Injury Certification
New Braunfels Regional Rehabilitation Hospital received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Brain Injury rehabilitation. This certification signifies the hospital’s commitment to providing a higher standard of service for patients that have suffered brain injuries.
The certification was given after a rigorous on-site review by an expert evaluator of the hospital’s practices, programs and outcomes in treating these patients. The Gold Seal of Approval reflects our ongoing dedication to constantly improve our performance and therefore improve the lives of the patients we serve.
Certification through The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Programs is voluntary and available only to Joint Commission-accredited acute care hospitals. Certification requirements address three main areas:
- Compliance with consensus-based national standards
- Effective use of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines to manage and optimize care
- Organized approach to performance measurement and improvement activities
